What to do now

Rapunzel bioSnacky Das Original Red Clover – Seeds for Sprouts has been recalled because of E. coli. Treat the affected packs as unsafe whatever their date, and clean anything they touched.

  1. Do not eat any of it, and do not try to rinse it clean — that does not make it safe.
  2. Clean the fridge and anything the product touched, then wash your hands well.
  3. Return it to the shop where you bought it for a refund. Shops normally accept recalled food without a receipt.
  4. Look for other packs at home: the recall covers every pack that matches the details below.

Why it matters. STEC can cause bloody diarrhoea and, in a small number of cases, a kidney complication called haemolytic uraemic syndrome, most often in young children. Washing salad leaves at home does not reliably remove it.
