Audi Q5 recalled over a restraint defect

Airbags or seat belts

On Audi Q5 vehicles manufactured within a specific period the belt tensioning function on the front seats does not comply with technical requirements. Although the seat belt is tightened in the event of an accident which requires this it cannot be held tight reliably which reduces the protective effect. For this reason one or both front seat belts – as required – will be replaced on affected Q5 vehicles.

Check your product

Only vehicles within the listed VIN ranges or build dates are covered. A franchised dealer can confirm from your VIN.

What to do now

  2. Contact a franchised dealer to book the free repair.
  3. Keep the manufacturer’s recall letter if you receive one, and update your address on the V5C so future letters reach you.

Why it matters. Airbags and seat belts only matter in a crash, so a defect can go unnoticed until the worst moment.

Repairs and costs

Safety recall work is carried out by franchised dealers free of charge, whether or not you are the first owner and whether or not the vehicle is still under warranty.

If a dealer will not carry out the recall work, contact the manufacturer’s customer services and, if that does not resolve it, the DVSA.
