Summary
Product Recall for BOOW LiFePO4 Leisure Battery presenting a serious risk of fire.
The risk
The products present a serious risk of fire as a result of large inconsistencies in build quality and construction. The blue product does not contain a battery management system nor have a fuse on the output. There was also no discharge cut-off voltage, making it possible for the battery to overcharge and overheat. The yellow product has poor internal construction with internal wires able to detach and short circuit across the battery and does not contain a battery management system.
The product also required improvements to marking, labelling and documentation.
The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
