Summary
Product Safety Report for Crochet Baby Sleeping Bag sold via Vinted presenting a risk of asphyxiation.
The risk
The product presents a risk of asphyxiation and overheating. The product does not incorporate arm openings and/or incorporate a hood, which may allow an infant to slip down inside the product during use. Excess fabric may then cover the infant’s nose and mouth, obstructing breathing and leading to asphyxiation. Infants are particularly vulnerable as they may be unable to remove the obstruction themselves.
OPSS has published a Product Safety Alert for Baby Sleeping Bags, which highlights the risk they may pose to babies: https://www.gov.uk/product-safety-alerts-reports-recalls/product-safety-alert-baby-sleeping-bags-psa9
