Electric Wood Trimmer safety warning over an electric shock risk
Product Safety Report for electric wood trimmer presenting a high risk of electric shock and electrocution.
What to do now
The hazard with Electric Wood Trimmer is electric shock: it does not meet the safety requirements that keep live parts away from fingers.
- Switch it off at the wall and unplug it. Do not use it again, even briefly.
- Do not attempt a home repair or a different plug.
- This is a safety report rather than a manufacturer recall: the listing has been taken down, but the seller may not contact you. Get in touch with the seller through the marketplace.
- If you cannot reach the seller, Trading Standards can be told through Citizens Advice.
Why it matters. Mains electricity in the UK is 230 volts, enough to cause serious injury or death. Cheap chargers, adaptors and appliances sold online are among the products most often found with this fault.
If someone has been hurt

Summary
Product Safety Report for electric wood trimmer presenting a high risk of electric shock and electrocution.
The risk
The product presents a high risk of electric shock as the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard. The shortcomings include that the dimensions of the sleeved parts of the plug’s pins differ from the metal parts of the pins. This results in a distinct step between the two. This could cause damage to the socket and undue wear and tear to the sleeve. Furthermore, the plug’s fuse does not meet the dimensional requirements of the relevant standard (BS 1362), the fuses end caps we insecurely fixed and no filler was present, which is required to ensure safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The product also requires improvements to markings and labelling.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008.
