Summary

Product Recall for Magnetic Fishing Toys sold via Etsy and Wish presenting a high risk of choking due to small parts and a risk of internal injuries as some small magnets (small parts) have excessively high magnetic strength.

The risk

The products present a high risk of choking due to small parts either created during the abuse and tension test or they were received as small parts. A young child may put a small part in its mouth and the parents may not notice in time, so the small part can block the child’s airways. Some of the magnets that were small parts were also found to have excessively high magnetic strength. Small, high-powered magnetic products can be easily swallowed and, when ingested, have the potential to cause serious internal injuries within the gastrointestinal tract. For information on each of the products, please access the product PDF in the above table.

The products do not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
