What to do now
Salmonella has been found, or may be present, in Prepworld fruit products. It is a common cause of food poisoning in the UK and spreads easily from packaging to hands and worktops.
- Put it aside, bagged, away from anything that will not be cooked.
- Wash your hands after handling the pack, then clean the surfaces, boards and utensils it touched.
- Return it to Tesco, where you should get your money back, or bin it.
- Check the freezer and cupboards for other packs with the same details, including anything you have decanted or portioned.
Why it matters. Salmonella usually causes diarrhoea, stomach cramps and a temperature that start within a few days of eating. Freezing does not kill it, and raw or lightly cooked foods carry the highest risk.
