Protection may failLow risk

Product Recall for 3M™ Peltor™ X-series P5 Over the Ear Earmuffs (helmet attached) presenting a health risk.

What to do now

3M™ Peltor™ X-series P5 Over the Ear Earmuffs (helmet attached) may not give the protection it claims to.

  1. Replace it with equipment that meets the right standard before your next use.
  2. Contact the business or the shop you bought it from to arrange the remedy set out in the notice.
  3. Incidents and injuries can be reported to Trading Standards via the Citizens Advice consumer helpline.

Why it matters. Protective equipment is bought on trust: a helmet, mask, life jacket or high-visibility garment that does not perform gives a false sense of safety.

Refunds, repairs and replacements

In a recall, the business responsible arranges the remedy, which may be a refund, a repair, a replacement or a free part. The notice says which one applies.

Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 also apply: goods must be safe, of satisfactory quality and as described. Within 30 days of purchase you can usually reject faulty goods for a full refund.
