THIS! Isn’t Chicken and Bacon Wrap
- Affected
- All dates up to and including 18 June 2024
What to do now
The concern with Chicken and Bacon wrap is Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). Only a small number of these bacteria are needed to make someone ill.
- Do not eat it. If it is a salad or sandwich, do not try to wash or pick out the affected part.
- Wash hands, boards and the fridge shelf with hot soapy water after handling it.
- Return it to the shop where you bought it, where you should get your money back, or bin it.
- Check the freezer and cupboards for other packs with the same details, including anything you have decanted or portioned.
Why it matters. STEC can cause bloody diarrhoea and, in a small number of cases, a kidney complication called haemolytic uraemic syndrome, most often in young children. Washing salad leaves at home does not reliably remove it.
