Summary

Product Recall for black Tycolit LED Mining Lamp presenting a serious risk of electric shock.

The risk

The product is inadequately earthed and does not make the consumer aware in the instructions. If the product was to have a fault, there would be no earthing to stop it from becoming live, and without the consumer knowing, could give them an electric shock. The wiring also possessed an insufficient cross-sectional area. The cord anchorage means was also insufficient and could not be tightened to prevent the movement of the supply cord. The LED driver failed the electric strength test as it allowed a flashover when the 1250 V test voltage was applied between the input and earthed metal parts. The appliance was inadequately earthed as the earth wire could severely overheat. The insulation was damaged, and the earth bond resistance exceeded the limit. The instructions supplied with this sample were inadequate. They did not contain adequate safety information and details to ensure the correct and safe installation and use of the product.

The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
