Summary
Product Safety Report for Xin Yue AC PC Power Cable presenting a high risk of fire.
The risk
The product presents a risk of fire because the plug is counterfeit, does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363, and does not have a ballast. A ballast is required to ensure the safe operation of the product under fault conditions. The cable conductor cross-sectional area is also significantly smaller than declared, measuring approximately 0.493 mm² rather than the marked 0.75 mm². This may result in the cable overheating when subjected to electrical load, increasing the likelihood of overheating, ignition and fire.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994.
