What to do now

  3. Because the product was found unsafe on an online marketplace, use the platform’s order page to contact the seller.
  4. Report it to Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice consumer service if the seller does not respond.

Why it matters. Mains electricity in the UK is 230 volts, enough to cause serious injury or death. Cheap chargers, adaptors and appliances sold online are among the products most often found with this fault.

Summary

Product Safety Report for OOWOLF CT010Y/LL11Y Wall Lamp presenting a serious risk of electric shock.

The risk

The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as it was inadequately earthed meaning that if a fault was to occur, the product could become live and give the user an electric shock.

The size of the earth wire was too small and severely overheated and melted under resistance testing. Also, there were accessible conductive parts separated from live parts only by basic insulation. T

he product was also missing some of the required documentation and markings and does not comply with the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
